My Favorite Natural Skincare

I love a good skincare routine. Admittedly, I am a minimalist when it comes to how many products I use, but I still love to scope out blogs and magazines for routine ideas. Unfortunately, many magazines and blogs use skin care products that contain a lot of potentially toxic and/or allergenic ingredients, so I would never use them. Partly this is because I have very sensitive skin, but mostly because the more reading and research I do about these chemicals, the more I am convinced I should not put them on my skin.

Did you know it takes 26 seconds for your skin to absorb anything you put on it? For this reason, I try to use all natural, toxin free products. I love the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Database, and their corresponding app Healthy Living to help me sort through all the products out there. Below I am sharing my favorite products.

Osea Malibu Ocean Cleanser

I became hooked on this line when I was working at The Still Point in Takoma Park. Their Ocean Cleanser is great for all skin types and you don’t need a lot, so the bottle lasts me a good 8 months. I buy mine online from oseamalibu.com

Beauty Counter Nourishing Day Cream

This lotion is light enough for daytime, but still very hydrating for my super dry skin. It also doesn’t contain any sunscreen, which is important to me.

Argon Oil for Extra Moisture

As I’ve mentioned, my skin is super dry. Like the desert. So on the days my day cream isn’t enough I pat a small amount of this on. It soaks in really well so I don’t feel like an oil slick. I just get this at my local health food store.

Skincando Miracle Cream

Another product I got hooked on while working at the spa, and I’ve found a place in Frederick that sells it – Maven Beauty! This really is the best night cream I’ve found, definitely worth the higher price.

Gratefully Rooted Flower Power Mask

I am in love with this charcoal mask from Gratefully Rooted. I have mixed it with honey, apple cider vinegar, and water. The ACV was too harsh for my face, but mixed with a little honey and water is perfect for getting a deep clean. Ideally, I would use this once a week, but…life with a toddler. So realistically it happens once a month. Check out gratefullyrooted.com to buy.

And that’s what I’m into right now! As you can see, I’m low maitenance. I can’t deal with a 5 step skin care routine, partly because I truly believe less is more, and I’m luckily these products keep my skin happy.
