Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Calihan is a board certified Family Physician who has practiced in the northern Virginia region for more than 25 years. She was a founding owner and practicing physician at Loudoun Medical Group, P.C. one of the largest multi-specialty physician practices in the mid-Atlantic region. She served as LMG’s Medical Director from the founding in 2000 until 2013 and as board chair from 2000-20005.

Dr. Calihan has also spent years studying and attaining credentials in holistic and integrative medicine. She trained in acupuncture with Dr. Joseph Helms at the UCLA School of Medicine. She trained at the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC, where she became a preceptor and trained healthcare professionals. She became board certified in holistic medicine in 2000, and she was in the first class certified at the Institute of Functional Medicine. Her practice Integrative Family Medicine Center has been awarded the “Best of Loudoun” for alternative medicine since 2007.

Dr. Calihan has also served as a director at Inova Loudoun Hospital and was chair of the board from 2010-2012. She is a graduate of Smith College and Georgetown University Medical School.

Joseph Lynch, Legal Counsel

Mr. Lynch serves as outside general counsel to the Institute and to the Healing Arts & Wellness Center on a pro bono basis. He previously served as counsel to Dr. Calihan in the formation and operation of the Integrative Family Medicine Center. Mr. Lynch is a health law attorney and a partner with King & Spalding, LLP in Washington, DC. He has more than 25 years representing community hospitals, academic medical centers, physicians, and physician practices as well as other health care providers on a broad range of business transactions and in regulatory compliance. He has represented numerous clients in the conception, formation and start-up operations of businesses involved in healthcare delivery. Mr. Lynch is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and Cornell University.
